On Monday, April 8th, the Heroes, History, & Hope Tour began! Cody, the Serven family, and I have been planning this conference for several months now and it was very exciting to finally see our plans come to pass, by God's grace.
Here are some of the photo's from the first day, which we spent in Princeton, NJ. This part of the tour really focused on the key figures in Presbyterian church history.

At 10 AM, several families joined the Servens and the interns in the parking lot by Princeton Seminary. Excitement was high as we started out on this adventure to learn about American church history!

Gathered on the green lawn at Princeton Theological Seminary |
Pastor Serven led us around the campus, explaining the significance of the buildings and whom they were named after. The stone archicture was very impressive and it also contributed to the sense of permanency which the Seminary possessed. Many of the buildings had been constructed in the 1800's.
After concluding our tour of the Seminary, we headed over to the Princeton graveyard. Here, many of the theological heavyweights who impacted the church throughout the 1700-1900's are buried. We got to stand by the graves of men like Jonathan Edwards, Charles Hodge, B.B. Warfield. and many others.

Rev. Green was Dr. Hodge's childhood pastor |
Ashbel Green was a long-time pastor in Philadelphia, PA. He was the minister who performed the wedding ceremony for Charles Hodge's parents, baptized Charles Hodge after he was born, and just six months later, buried Charles Hodge's father. This man would have a powerful impact in shaping the early understanding of Charles Hodge about the things of God.

Remembering the Warfields |
|
I really admired the cross designs on both the graves |
One of the remarkable providences of God was how He used the marriage of the Warfields to be a powerful testimony to husbands and wives living after them. Mrs. Warfield became a cripple and an invalid later in their married life. B.B. Warfield set an example to every Christian husband of devotion, tender care, and fidelity. He personally took care of all his wife's needs and would never travel more than a few miles from their home in order to always be able to care for his bride. One blessing in disguise that this situation brought was that B.B. Warfield, since he didn't travel abroad, had much more time available to write books on important doctrines. To this very day, seminary students, pastors, and teachers still use and benefit greatly from B.B. Warfield's careful and detailed defense of the truths of Scripture.

Having concluded at the Princeton graveyard, my friends and I took a moment to examine the nearby Princeton Battle Memorial
